I'm reading THE SCAR now -- quite absorbed in it, though Locus already had so many reviews of it, I doubt I can comment further. I'd also like to pass on a link, for China and his fans, to a New Zealand poet (and Marxist) I just discovered, Alan Bruton. Check him out at http://www.nzepc.auckland.ac.nz/authors/brunton/jaamed.ptml The man rocks! --Faren Miller

I am reading Perdido Street Station at the moment. It's quite a trip. Mieville can actually write which is more than I can say for many sci-fi scribes. They have the ideas but not the literary skills. This guy has it in spades - he can put together an absorbing plot with interesting (albeit bizarre) characters and some amazingly scary creatures (ie slake moths). He also has a gift for language. I'll be checking out King Rat sometime soon.

I put a link to your website from www.waterstones.be as it's very good. This will remain as long as the book Perdido is mentioned. Hope this is OK.

Sir - You may care to note, since it is not otherwise recorded in your excellent if scabrous page (and I hope, incidentally, you have taken note of the sinister fate of the editor of the synonymous publication in Mew Corbuzon) that Mr Mieville's, I would suggest somewhat over-generous, views on the noted fantasist Mr J R R Tolkien, and the recent motion picture based on his work, are to be found at length in the December edition of "Socialist Review" and available online: http://www.swp.org.uk/SR/259/SR3.HTM. I trust this is of some assistance.

Holy Spirit, I ask thee to search my heart on this day, and reveal to me by your power the truth. So you are basically a good person? Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous; no, not one. Want to know the truth! Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Want to be saved and go to heaven? Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved... Why? John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, for whosoever shall believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

Nice page, well done, and I like the pun in the title. I will link up to your page! well worth the time. I also wonder what the newer work of Miéville will bring, what his further development as an author will bring us.

Hey Mr. Miéville, thanks for your books, good luck at the polls. Greater than any ideology is the man who represents it. Hey Goblin, thanks for the site and the list!
