It's quite a trip. Mieville can actually write which is more than I can say for many sci-fi scribes. They have the ideas but not the literary skills. This guy has it in spades - he can put together an absorbing plot with interesting (albeit bizarre) characters and some amazingly scary creatures (ie slake moths). He also has a gift for language.
